As the day ends, I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be on this journey with others. Throughout the day, when I would be tempted to cheat just a little bite, the knowledge that nine other folks were abstaining as well gave me great courage and strength! So before sleep sets in, I offer this prayer of thanksgiving to God.
Great, great God: thank you for companions on the journey. You have given us one another as partners, as parents, as children, as neighbors, and through the body of your son Jesus, as sisters and brothers together. Through the power of your Spirit, bless the brothers and sisters who are on the Daniel Fast. Strengthen their bodies when they get weak. Renew their resolve when temptation creeps in. Focus their hearts and minds fully and completely on you, that this time of sacrifice will be blessed in abundant and unexpected ways. In the name of Jesus our brother, who has gone this way before us, Amen.
