Almost half-way through!
What a joyful day it has been. At noon, we had a spiritual director lead three of us through a group Lectio Divina, or sacred reading of scripture. During the course of 40 minutes, she led us through centering and prayer on four verses of scripture. Each person had a completely different way that God spoke to her through the process. It was affirming, inspiring and peaceful. We will gather again next Wednesday at noon for another session.
The fast allows us to slow down, examine our lives and reflect on what God is saying to us, just as the Lectio Divina process allows us to dive deeper into Scripture. What has God revealed to you during these past 10 days? How are you slowing your pace through the fast to experience God in a new way?
God of all time, you call us away from chronos time, time that we measure in minutes, hours and seconds, in tasks completed, and activities finished. Instead, you call us to kairos time, your holy time, that is measured in acts of service, seasons of prayer, encounters with grace and experiences of love. During these next 11 days, let us revel in this new-found time spent with you. Open wide our hearts to receive the power of your Spirit. Connect our hearts with strong cords to the hurting, the lost, the dispossessed and the poor, all those whom Jesus our brother spent his life serving. Show us, o God, how we can embody his hands and feet and serve others in powerful ways, both big and small. In his name we pray, Amen.
