Day 9

So many of the fasters have shared their experiences of the fast with me during the past couple of days. They all have experienced such a sense of grounding and renewal, a spiritual awakening that feels fresh and exciting. Praise God! I believe our focus as individuals and as a group is shifting from food to spirit, from our stomachs to our hearts. Sure, we still crave certain things (I can't wait for the first cup of coffee!) but even more, our primary craving seems to be for Jesus!

Tomorrow we have our Wednesday prayer group. We will be led by a spiritual director in a group Lectio Divina. These group ways to read and pray scripture are incredibly moving. I can't wait to experience it!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Living Lord. You are so good to us. You supply our every need, you provide us space to find you, you offer us the endless fountain of your grace and love. I praise you for the way this time of fasting is turning our hearts more toward you. Keep our eyes and our ears focused on the needs of the community and the world. Show us where you are leading us to respond in great love. Give us joy as we travel as your people, bound together through Jesus, our brother, our friend and our Savior. Amen.
