Our first prayer focus is for those who do not yet know the love, forgiveness, and grace of Jesus Christ. Read Matthew 28:16-21. During this time of fasting, lift up in prayer a person in your life whom you desire to know the Good News of Jesus.
Jesus gives a very tall order to his followers in Matthew 28, or this passage that is commonly known as the Great Commission. With the advent of technology, especially the Internet, "the ends of the earth" feel a lot closer than it was when Jesus first said it. The saying goes, "the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step". That same senitment holds for sharing the love of God in Christ. If those who are closest to us do not see a change in our life because of our commitment to Jesus, then it doesn't matter how far we travel to share the Good News.
So this week, as you fast and pray, especially praying for someone you know who needs to know the Good news of Jesus, ask God to give you insight into the ways that your life can more closely reflect his. What places of sin do you need to root out? How can your words and actions draw others to Jesus? Who do you want to experience the grace of God that is with them from the beginning of time?
