How was the second full day of the Daniel Fast? Have you come across any particular challenges so far? I've heard from a couple of fasters who have made modifications to fit their dietary needs or life situations. Remember, it's the intent of the fast that is the most important.
As we continue our Advent journey, we move through the week of Hope. Today, I had the blessing to witness two amazing, sacred acts of hope in the midst of life. One was a time of sharing memories, laughter and tears for a family who had lost a loved one The second act was a quiet time of prayer with two members. Each encounter was holy and sacred in its own way - one very quiet and filled with a gentle current of emotion, the second at times alternately joyful and tear-filled.
These two events reminded me of the Incarnation, the coming of divine love into the world in the form of Jesus Christ. Jesus came to us in the midst of our everyday life to bring us great hope. In small ways and large, in laughter and tears, Jesus emerges into our lives to bring us the assurance that love is eternal, forgiveness is endless, and reconciliation is always possible.
As you continue your journey, may you spot glimmers of hope in your everyday life. May the simple act of choosing what to eat be a hopeful sign as you make room in your life for Christ to enter.
